📚Why Darryl?

What I Want to Change First

Our schools have dedicated teachers and strong programs—but we’re not delivering consistently for every student.

The biggest gaps:

  • Students falling behind early in reading and math
  • Schools are stretched too thin to meet behavior and mental health needs
  • Too few clear paths to college, careers, or skilled trades

My priority:

Fix the foundation—early learning.

  • Identify struggling students sooner.
  • Give teachers proven tools and support.
  • Intervene before students fall behind

👉When we get the basics right early, everything improves—graduation rates, job readiness, and student success.

This isn’t about blame—it’s about building a system that works. My job on the board: focus resources where they matter most and hold the system accountable for results.

👨 Role of Parents in Schools

Parents play a critical role—they deserve a voice, transparency, and respect.

  • Parents should know what their children are learning
  • They should have real opportunities to give input
  • Their concerns should be heard and addressed

At the same time:

  • Curriculum decisions should be guided by trained educators
  • Schools must stay focused on student success—not politics

👉My approach: Partnership. Stronger communication, more transparency, and real trust between schools and families.

Because when parents and schools work together, students win.

⚖️ Keeping Politics Out of Schools

School board decisions should be about students—not politics.

My standard is simple:

  • Does it improve student learning?
  • Does it support teachers?
  • Does it strengthen our schools?

If yes—we should pursue it. If not—we shouldn’t.

That means:

  • Listening to all perspectives
  • Using facts, data, and educator expertise
  • Staying focused on results—not ideology

👉Every decision should put students first. Always.
